Women’s History Month Event at Four Corners

The Hackney Flashers have a new event coming up. This time we’ll be at Four Corners in Bethnal Green, showing and talking about our work in the 70s and discussing how it might relate to visual activism today. ‘Who’s Holding the Baby?’ The question – and the exhibition – is back at the Hayward Gallery after 36 years

In 1979, the Hackney Flashers’ exhibition, ‘Who’s Holding the Baby?’, was included in the Hayward Gallery show, Three Perspectives on Photography. The work was selected for inclusion by guest curator, John Tagg. Thirty-six years on, in February 2015, the exhibition , on the lack of childcare in the 1970s will be returning to the Hayward

Photographers and activists came together to discuss the past, present and future

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along to the Hackney Flashers Exposed event at Chats Palace, which marked the fortieth anniversary of the group beginning to work together as a collective. Around 80 people attended and had a lively discussion about current and past activism and creativity.
